Mere Words

Sky behind me —sky ahead I pause to sip the welcome silence Made of freedom in my head On this road of flowering kindness

Days of darkness lose their grip Nothing there but fears imagined Tragic once, but now a blip Upon the dial —my old reactions

Here and now are all I need The keys for living inward written Finding access like a seed To all the things which once lay hidden

Crack the shell, the safe facade The shield with which most stay contented

Necessary for the pod To rise —the earth and sky befriended

Touch the liquid rain, the yellow Shaft of sun at dawn: a message More than just a chosen pawn Within this quasi-dream perspective

Waking up is being here No need for fear—all things—the center Say goodbye to fruitless years Beyond mere words: there, I must enter
