The Everyday Hero

The everyday hero

Is not dressed in summer

But content with losing the leaves

Making blunders

Like flamed maple tree which projects

All its colors

Down onto the street

For the good of another

We all wish for something

And all long for trust

But hold back from giving to be

Free from rust

When all of our leaves burgundy

Need the gust

Of the wind need the rain

Crave the sky's gentle touch

Brave the mantle of loneliness

Let go too much wishing

For these concepts erroneous

Temptingly glisten

In the mind's intersection

Your regular street

Yes, the one you walk down

With the people you meet

The people your thoughts

And the street mental pathways

It's you that is thinking

You're stuck in a past day

Change where you're choosing to walk

Clear the ashtray

Don't count up the leaves

Sweep them clean

Let the mind play

Rewrite the legend

Lose the old script

Giving a treasure

Like sun's glowing kiss

Take a walk in forever

Find your storybook wish

Only when you're not looking

Can you manifest bliss

Yes, you've got to shed layers

To be freed from the new

And released from the old

'Till you find what is true

Which is not absolute

Just the version of you

That cannot be contained

By these pictures you drew

Now set offdown the lane

Re-examining clues

Let the slingshots take aim

Mental fixtures unglued

Like a lion untamed

Made to always pull through

You're an everyday hero

With living to do
